The first dive, the first swimming test, the first ice cream.
The hot stone slabs, the mushroom in the non‒swimmers’ pool, the first kiss, the first cigarette...
I spent many summers at this outdoor pool.
Later on, I would often pass by and stop for a moment to reminisce. When it became clear that it was to be demolished, I wanted to capture the place one last time, as a personal and collective farewell. The photographs show the outdoor pool in its final state after closure, in a phase of transition. Nature is beginning to reclaim the site. They are complemented by original objects from the outdoor pool, which make the place tangible.
The exhibition is structured so that visitors move through it as they would through the old outdoor pool. I was supported in the conception by Anne Eichelbrönner. Historical insights are provided by Ute Feuerbach and Bernhard Weber from the Volkach Local History Society. It is about memories, about summer and about the disappearance of a place.
